New yard!!!

Hey ya'll, Brent speaking, I would like you to meet our new yard. The project started back in May.  Candice and I decided that the jungle in the backyard was bringing in too many bugs and that it wasn't good for much.  We had planned to take out everything and put some grass in.  At the beginning I was thinking it would be a 1.5 week project, I wanted to get it done during my school break between spring and summer.   Well, I was wrong.  It took 3.5 months!!!  There were about 40 big buckets full of junk I hauled out.  But this last saturday, yes, the same day Candice got in her big car accident,  my dad, my uncle Rory and I managed to put the final touches on the yard.  Thanks guys.  They brought the tools, the tiller, the soil and the sod in the trailer and after about 2.5 hours of work we had it finished.

MaZda WreCkAge!

Heres the story.. Saturday morning I was driving to the gym and was getting off the exit at 2000 east of I 215. I was turning left, off the exit. I had a green light right and was following a Cottonwood Heights police officer. As I proceeded through the intersection a guy on his phone!.. in a blue Subaru Baja came flying through and hit me going 45mph.

I had no time to react but when I saw him it was to late, He struck my door and and slid me into oncoming traffic. It was probably a good 200ft or so from where I was, luckily there were no vehicles waiting at the red light going northbound.

The first thing I remember is a officer opening the front passenger door and asking if I was ok, and if I could move. I said yes, and then he quickly undid my seat belt and told me to quickly get out of the car. My car was being sprayed with fire extinguishers.. but I didn't see any flames. The guy who hit me got out of his car and  said that I ran the red light! Pretty sure I didn't since I was right behind the police officer.. The officer asked for my license, insurance, registration.. and asked if I could call my husband. I couldn't find my phone, but a witness let me borrow his.

The ambulance arrived shortly after that and checked me out.  I felt ok, My head hurt and legs. I had an imprint on the outside of my leg from my speaker on my car door, A pretty good goose egg on the inside of my knee, and on the side of my head and a huge bruise.. (that I didn't even discover till I got home on the inside of the thigh on my right leg). Weird.. not sure what hit me there..  and it feels likeI have one on the backside of my left shoulder and those that know me know that I do not bruise easily..

Brent showed up after the emt's released me and the guy got the ticket for running a red light and driving on a suspended licsence. The sad thing is that he was on his way to his fathers funeral. So you know his head wasn't in the right place anyway. But since his license was suspended..he is not a great driver anyway I guess.. Anyway.. We got all my stuff out of the car and the tow truck came and took the mazda away. :( I'm really going to miss my car). We spent the next 5 hours on the phone with insurance companies making claims, etc.. Went and picked up a rental car, Which is a Toyota Yaris.. Seriously.. the smallest car ever.. ok not as small as a smart car but its TINY!! Oh well, we don't have to pay for it so I should n't complain.
Today my head is pounding today and I can't explain anything.. so if this post is all over the place.. you'll know why.... But considering what my car looks like I feel pretty dang lucky to WALK away with just a few bumps and bruises! The police officer said that I could've been smashed with the speed the guy was traveling. My side air bags and the air bag on my seatbelt deployed. Pretty sure those saved my life.   I now realize how important the saftey features of vehicles are.

Not only the saftey features of the vehicles protected me but I know I was definantley blessed by Heavenly Father to still be alive. I don't know if any of you have ever been in a crazy, life threatning situation but everything happened so fast but as it was happening every thought went through my mind. My family, my mom, Brent, Car, Me. My future. Its so crazy the feeling I had after I was hit, When the police officer asked if I was ok I had a comforting feeling that I was, I could move my legs, arms and neck. This whole experience made me realize how precious life is. There are always those what if"s but what is, is what happened and I just have to be thankful that Im still alive and not seriously injured. Thank you all for your concern and support! I really am doing good, and feel thankful for such great friends and family!

BODY PUMP anyone!?

HEY EVERYONE!! I'M FINALLY FILMING MY BODY PUMP VIDEO! and I need YOU!! I'LL BE FILMING HERE... XCEL FITNESS IN HOLLADAY! 6151 S. Highland Drive
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 18
2:00 PM

BODY PUMP is.. A great workout! I've been doing body pump for a few years and I absolutley love it!~ I know you will to!
Here is an explanation of the class from the LES MILLS WEBSITE. So you know what to expect.

1. Warmup
The opening track is designed to warm up all the major muscles and prepare the body for the workout ahead. First we adopt the BODYPUMP™ set position of standing upright with great posture, heels under hips with the toes turned out slightly. The tummy is held in tight, the chest is proud with the shoulders down and back and knees are soft… Then we do shortened versions of each of the main exercises to follow, warming up all the major muscle groups and preparing the body for the workout ahead.
2. Legs/squats
The first real working track targets the biggest muscle groups of quadriceps, gluteals and hamstrings with squats performed at different speeds – slow for strengthening and toning, fast for burning calories. Participants will use their heaviest weight selection for this track.
3. Chest
The focus changes from legs to the upper body and lighter weights are used as participants lie back on their bench to work the barbell up and down at chest level. This track targets the major muscles of the chest, shoulders and triceps with moves of varying range and intensity.
4. Back
Participants return to the standing set position for the most athletic track of the class. A selection of lifts and deadrows trains the postural muscles of the upper-mid and lower back and the cardio-vascular system soars with clean and presses, where the barbell is lifted high above the head. This engages all the muscles of the upper-mid and lower back, as well as working the gluteals and hamstrings.
5. Triceps
Time to lie back on the bench again and sculpt and tone the triceps using lighter weights. The barbell is held at chest level and lowered toward the forehead or chest by bending the arms at the elbow. Other moves may include tricep kickbacks using a single plate, tricep push-ups and tricep dips.
6. Biceps
Similar of slightly lighter weights are used to isolate and train the biceps with a succession of lifts and curls.
7. Lunges
Weights are optional in the lunge track, which revisits and trains multiple leg muscles by extending one leg forward (on or off the bench) and dropping the back knee towards the floor.
8. Shoulders
Barbells and single, hand-held plates are used in this track to work all areas of the deltoids in a range of different ways. Exercises can include lateral raises with plates, upright rows, rotator and overhead presses – and the ever-faithful push-ups.
9. Abdominals
The last working track is focused on all areas of the body’s core, relying heavily on the use of sit-ups and leg raises, with bodyweight ‘hovers’ and ‘planks’ also frequently incorporated. Single plates may be placed on the chest or lifted overhead to increase the work-load.
10. Cooldown (MY FAVORITE)
Soothing music is usually used to accompany a final sequence of stretches to complete the workout and help reduce any risk of muscle soreness or injury.
I hope you all can make it!! and If you come.. you even get a TREAT afterward! Can't wait to see you!!

MoAB!

We just got home from Moab! Its our 3rd trip this year! Which suprisingly isn't that many compared to last summer! We love to go but with summer school and work we weren't able to go as often. Brandon and Luann came with us and the boys had planned a bike ride. "Suprise, Suprise" (they live for it) Anyway, Since our bikes were stolen, Brandon let Brent ride his kona which is a really good bike. The had a awesome ride. They did "the whole enchilada"trail. Which actally starts a little outside of Moab in the Lasalle Mountains and ends towards the beginning of Moab. Which means a really long ride. It took them 6 hours!! Meanwhile, back at camp Lu and I went on a ride ourselves across town on our road bikes and up the canyon! I have a new love of roadbiking!! I have never really done any road biking before and I absolutley loved it! Guess its time to buy a road bike! Lu and I have commited to our team.. "team LuDice" yep, cool huh!? We think so! ha ha! But since I can't do anymore long distance running because of my hip.. did I ever mention how bad I hate injuries!!.. I'm going to do long distance cycling!! I don't get the same feeling from cycling as I did running but its something.. a good something. Its something smooth, fast, and exciting! Can't wait to buy my roadbike!
We also of course went on a jeep ride! We did the poison spider trail. It was pretty fun!, I don't know if its cause I'm getting older but I'm a pansy and get kind of nauseous.. I have the biggest fear of rolling the jeep and of course its capable of bigger and harder obstacles but it still scares me! I guess its all those dumb youtube videos of accidents we watch.. But Brent loves it. So I do what I can. I'm just glad to spend time with my husband since he has been so busy with work and school lately. Saturday night, we went to ZAX for some utah football and dinner!
Sunday, We woke up to wind and sand blowing everywhere!! There was sand all over EVERYTHING! and I hate sand ok.. just being dirty, camping, and in my bed...so we hurried and packed up and left! It was a good trip!
When we got home I cleaned out all the sand out of everything got the cooler cleaned out, laundry sorted and started, camping stuff put away.. AND Showered! Then Brent asked where his wallet was.. I told him I didn't know.. until he told me it was in his shorts. Yep, I put them IN the WASHER.. OOPS.. worst wife ever.. I should of checked pockets. I feel horrible.. He quickly got it out and started to blow dry checks, utah tix, important reciepts..etc..
Im so sorry hubby love..
Everything came out ok. just a little water damage..

13.1 or Texas??

So while my husband is here.

cheering on...

ok.. just to clarify.. my husband was not "cheering"for BYU.. But the Mountain West Confrence

Who were playing against......

Hanging out with.........

I stayed home to do this... THE SALT LAKE HALF MARATHON!

And it was amazing~

No pain no gain.. This race was AWESOME! The first 4 miles was a pretty brutal hill, Then from mile 4-13.1 it was all down hill! We started at little Dell Bridge ran through Emigration Canyon, passed Ruths Diner, The zoo.. All the way to the University of Utah Marriott. We started at 7 AM. It was perfect weather in the morning!! It started to rain around mile 7. It got a little cold with some head wind but didn't last to long.

I didn't really train for this marathon.. I actually signed up last week! But figured since I work out ALL the time I should be fine but on Wednesday, I decided maybe I should run a little so I went for a 11 miler.. Got home.. and my right hip was killing me.. its been bugging me after I do sprints or long distance running but Ive just ignored it.. Ok so, the day before the race I decided to go to a chiroproactor. After explaining my pain and him moving my hips.. he concluded that I have reginerated arthritis in my hips and starting in my knees.. SO NOT a good thing to hear before a half marathon.. or a avid fitness guru.. Great.. He told me NO MORE RUNNING.. ya.. sure..so when I told him that I had this run today he recommended not running..but its something I really LOVE and ENJOY doing. Knowing me.. Of course I did it anyway! Ya.. lets just say. the doc was right. I felt great Cardio ,But my hips started bugging me as soon as I started on the down hill.. But Sore hips, Bleeding toes, aching knees, Blister the size of texas...... Running through the finish line at 2:04.. Worth it. I didn't make my goal (under 2) But proud of myself anyway. Because I know I made it because of my motivation

*MY COUSIN JENNA*

I dedicated my run to my cousin Jenna, Who is suffering with Cancer. It disables her from doing things that she want to do. I could imagine how frustrating it would be to want to do something so bad but your body won't let you. Because of her faith and her drive in life I decided that this half was for her. The struggle she deals with in everyday is nothing we could compare to. So Jenn.. Thanks for taking me through the finish line.

I LOVE YOU

Just call me TIGER..

Mini Golf!!! A few weeks ago, we had a fun date night with our friends Brian and Jac and Lu and Brandon. We went to mulligans and did the batting cages and mini golf! I was really suprised how good we were.. I think mini golf should seriously be considered a pro sport.. Think how cool that would be! All the pros would have to have tricky, creative putts.. haha.. Anyway, the girls totally rocked it. Go us!

**INTERMITTEN SPRINGS**

i LOVE him. We actually have a picture here about 4 years ago! pre misson.. so we had to take another. The Hike to Intermitten is seriously a family tradition. I think we do it at least once a year! I love it. the water wasn't intermitten.. though. Still the BEST WATER EVER!! I love it.. I would bring GALLONS to fill if the hike wasn't so STEEP. But I did bring two water bottles and I savored every sip. Its THAT good!!
This is at the bottom of the hike looking up!

..CTR..

What a STUD! My little Bro was Baptized a few weeks ago! Im so proud of him and the decision that he made to be BAPTIZED! He was so cute, I bought him a pillow case that you color and a "soon to missionary" wristband. And as soon as he opened it he took the pillow and started coloring it.. Because he wanted to sleep with it that night, "cause it will help him feel the holy ghost." Not sure where he got that idea that a just baptized pillow will help him feel the holy ghost but it was pretty funny! He also wears the wristband EVERYDAY! I love giving gifts that actually get used! I love this little man!
COUSINS! Both Baptized and showin off their matching CTR rings!! BAM.

Of course we have to have a family photo session after the Baptism! The sun was totally in our eyes so we are all squinty and parker was seriously having a hard time.. I love my FAMILY!

My Dad, I love him so much! I'm thankful that he is able to hold the priesthood and the oppurtunity he had to Baptize Jamers. LAST but not LEAST, Jamison was his last child he got to Baptize.

This picture was right before the Baptism! Jamison was so excited to be baptized, My sister, Jessica gave a talk prior to the baptism and she did a great job explaining the importance of baptism and the meaning it holds in the Church. I was proud of her! Jamison was happy to be the newest member of the church. GOOD JOB J!
