HAlloWeeN PaRtAy!!

Halloween Party FUN! Last Night We decided to have a Halloween Party since we will be in New York for Halloween!! We had so much fun! We decided to make Carmel Apples! and Spent most of the night Playing some Crazy Mafia Games!

JacK-O-LanterNs!!

Sadie had to try on her costume early.. she is a dinosaur. She absolutley hates her costume.. she doesn't move at all!! she just stands there and looks so mad. Its pretty entertaining!
We finally got to Carve PUmkiNs!! Every Year its Tradition to Carve pumpkins!! I was wondering why and how this little tradition came to be, so I searched around and found this explaination.

The Jack-O'-Lantern was brought to North America by Irish immigrants. According to the legend, Jack was a mean, miserly drunk. Jack was smart enough, however, to entice the Devil into climbing an apple tree so he could help himself to the juicy apples near its top.

As soon as the Devil climbed the tree, Jack cut a sign of the cross into the tree, thus preventing the Devil from climbing down again. Jack then extracted promise from the Devil that he would never try to take Jack's soul.

When Jack died, he tried to get into Heaven but he was turned away because he had been such a mean drunk during his lifetime. Jack then went to the gates of Hell, looking for a place where he could spend all eternity. True to his word, the Devil refused him entry.

Jack asked the Devil where he was to supposed to go now. The answer he received was, “Back where you came from!” Since it was a dark night and Jack had a long journey ahead of him, the Devil gave Jack a lit coal from the fires of Hell.

Jack took the coal and put it inside a turnip, which he was carrying at the time. He used this unusual lantern to help him find his way.

Ever since that day, poor Jack has been doomed to roam the Earth, searching in vain for a place to rest.

The children in Ireland carved potatoes and turnips to make lanterns to be used on Hallowe'en night. When large numbers of Irish immigrants settled in America as a result of the Irish Potato Famine (1845-1850), they started using pumpkins for this purpose and so our familiar Hallowe'en tradition of the Jack-O'-Lantern came into existence.

I thought it was pretty interesting! Whenever I carve a pumpkin I always go with the traditional pumpkin face just because by the time I get all the guts out and all clean the Last thing I want to do is follow a stencil that takes time and patience.. why in the world would the kids in Ireland carve a potatoe? or a turnip..? that would be hard.. anyway Brent is the same way.. but they always turn out great!

GO UTES!! Sadie finally got her haircut! She is so cute! and I must say I don't have to vacuum everyday! Doesn't she look so cute! There are also some pictures from our sunday walk! we found this huge field next to our house! We try to go for a walk every Sunday, if you have time My favorite sunday walk is actually a hike through cottonwood its absolutley beautiful up there this time of year with all the fall leaves! Enjoy!

BikE poOp...

Ok, The Pictures are backwards.. but anyway this last weekend Brent and his Friends Scott and Brandon went for a LONG bike ride.. he was gone for 5 hours!! The trail is called the Wasatch Crest, and its way up in the mountains and from what I heard a pretty intense ride. He started the ride at the top and began to fly down the hill when they hit ice and snow Brandon who was first hit and flew off his bike and slid about 30 feet down the hill and then Brent went next, he hit the Ice and off he went and slid off in a different direction then Brandon and went through the snow and ice and mud then.. yes.. the manure.. your right that is manure head to toe on my husband and then that top pic is him after he shed his clothing. I must admit when I saw him walk in the house I couldn't do much besides laugh at the thought he rode his bike in his spandex!! hahahaha!! then I had to wash his clothes.. not so funny.. eww.

Weddings Galore!

Love is In The AIR!! It seems like our friends are catching on to this marriage for time and all eternity thing. We are so happy to have our friends make this important decision in their lives!
This last week two of our very good friends got married in the Salt Lake Temple and we were able to attend both of their sealings. I absolutley love going to see my friends get sealed! It is such an amazing blessing and ordinance in the church. Kristen and James Unwin were married Thurs. Oct 9th and Kristen and I have been friends since high school and James I actually went to Jr. High with so it was fun that they actually got married!! I'm so happy for you guys!!
Jackson and Breanne Holberg! Were married on Friday Oct. 10th It was a fun day! Jackson has been a good friend of Brents since Jr.High and we all went to high school together. Brent was a groomsmen along with Matt and Taylor. Congratulations!! We love you all!! (A few more weddings to come...)

Hales Rainbow Ranch!

We went to the ranch again probably for the last time for the season! We went over confrence weekend. It was so fun!! Although it rained all day long!! And I mean all day... it never did stop! But we still had fun! We listened to confrence and as much as I love confrence I love listening to it up there because its so quiet and peaceful and with the trees and just the envrionment that your in makes me realize how beautiful our earth is and the spirit you feel while listening to confrence is completley undescribable. Brent played chef and made dinner the first night we were there! and We went for a little walk and discovered a Beaver in the pond!! It had dam that was blocking our water from going in the pond so the water was really low. We got our boots and sweaters and gloves and shovels and not to mention our awesome hats! That actually say hales rainbow ranch on them... oh ya and the pistol that we attempted to shoot at the beaver about 13 times.. missing it every time.. but I think we got it cause it disappeared somewhere... no trophy beaver for us I guess! Beavers are so cute but I absolutley hate breaking there dams!! They are so hard!! especially when your cold and wet. The beavers dam is seriously amazing to see! They are pretty well built. You can see on the branches where the beaver had nawed on the wood and I sort of felt bad as we took it apart piece by piece.. cause building that probably took awhile.. oh well!! dam beaver should of known better.. ha!! ill post some more pics of the hunt later.. in the excitement of beaver hunting an me just being me forgot to take the camera out.. But luann did so ill get some pics from here and put them on.

Gardner Village Witches!

We went to Gardner Village for Jeremy and Britttany's wedding! and just decided to play around outside for a little bit! I love it there during this time of year! the witches are everywhere and they are some pretty interesting characters! Some of them make me laugh so hard!! Its a fun place to walk around and not to mention get the cutest house decor!! So if you haven't made it out there yet make sure you do!! The wedding was beautiful! Congrats Jeremy and Britt!!

Parents??

Brent and I played mom and dad for a week! We tended my boss's kids while they vacationed in Mexico and loved every minute of it! Going from no kids and a dog to FOUR kids and a dog was quite a challege! We had a lot of fun with them though! We went bowling, golfing, to the salon for pedicures and built this "haunted" house! and Jayci decided to just down the black icing not knowing it would stain her entire mouth!! The mom life is tough so I salute you all! From preparing meals to carpool and entertainment its a BUSY life! But we all know the blessings that come from it! I just hope one day that my kids are as well behaved as these ones!! I love them to death!

That is SPIIIIIICY!!!!!

ok, so i made sunday dinner and it took all afternoon!! so I had to take a picture! I made steamed vegetables, cucumber, strawberry salad lemon zest tilapia and sweet potatoes with a honeylime glaze. (recipe from kristi my cousin!). The story is.. I got the recipe for the potatoes from kristis blog and her recipes are always so delicious so i was excited to try to make them. I went and bought all the ingredients. As I begin to make the potatoes I realized I had bought yams instead of sweet potatoes.. oh well, I thought.. and continued to peel them into my sink.. BAD IDEA!! I learned the hard way.. disposales DO NOT like potato peelings. Brent spent over a hour taking apart our sink to fix it! Thats not even the end of this little cooking adventure... so yams are super hard to cut! and I was sweating by the time I got done chopping them all! and the recipe calls for 1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper... For some reason.. I accidently put 2 tablespoons in!! So the potatos were so hot and spicy! We couldn't even eat them without crying!! but hey if you have to clear your sinuses I know how!! So pretty much all of my hard work of cutting and peeling and baking.. was pretty much practice.. But I did remake them the next week and they were delicious!!

MOAB ANYONE??

MOAB AGAIN!! so since we got the jeep and the new upgrades! We had to hit up moab one more time for the summer! We went down with our friends Brandon and Luann. We camped, went off wheeling, biking, river rafting, hiked to delicate arch and explored the arches national park! We had so much fun! We took the jeep all over moab! I was a little nervous about off wheeling cause I completley underestimated the jeep! It really can go up alot and down alot crazier stuff then I believed it could! We took it on Hells revenge, baby lions back and many other trails. We biked slick rock and as always was a challege due to the hot air and strong winds. Maybe one day.. it will be easy for me. Luann and I went on a river trip with western river expedition. It was towards the end of the season so the rapids weren't to crazy. We were able to go on the trip with people from all around the world, holland, england, um.. las vegas. and then there was us.. from good old utah.. It was a fun ride! If anyone goes to moab for a river trip, I highly recommend western river expedition. They are awesome! But I did MISS my favorite RIVER GUIDE, my cousin Jeff! On, Sunday we decided to hike to delicate arch since our friends have never done it and neither of us have done it for a few years. Its a pretty long hike, alot harder then I remembered when I was little. There are no dogs allowed on the trail and we didn't want to leave sadie in the car cause it was to hot so we put her in her backpack and carried her on our backs the whole way! She loved it and did really well. People on the trail were surprised to see a dog on our back while we were hiking. It was funny to hear their reactions as we walked past. We love Moab!

Legacy 10k!!

Sorry this is a little Late!! I ran the legacy 10k! It was my first run ever!! and not the last! I loved it! My friend Luann ran the whole race with me! We finished in 1:08, Putting me in 8th place overall in my division. we kept a pretty good pace the whole time! I was proud of myself! I didn't think I could do it.. ha! I may be a gym rat, but I'm definitely not a runner!! I guess I proved myself wrong. Loni and Ashley did the race to! Seeing your friends in the race seems to motivate me even more to run harder and finish! Thanks girls!! Brent and Sadie were on the sideline to cheer me on and everyone knows when your husband is watching you always want to do the best you can. Ha!! just kidding.. i guess he just gives me that competitive edge.. but I know he would be proud no matter when I finished. It was a fun race and I'm glad i decided to do it 3 days before! no training, no ipod (cause it died), UNSTOPPABLE!!
